Housing Renewal for
Women and Children

Thanks to special funding received, for over two years Crossroads has been placing women and children into safe, affordable, permanent housing -- now with a 90% plus success rate of women and children being stable and remaining housed where originally placed for six months and longer.

  • Over the past two years Crossroads has helped over 110 women and children move from homelessness into a safe, affordable, permanent apartment -- currently all are private apartments, Crossroads does not currently utilize HUD funding to support its housing solutions for women and children.
  • Basline criteria for each woman in the Housing Solutions Program is that she must have employment or other regular income.
  • Crossroads also assists the women and children in the Housing Solutions Program by helping them secure basic furnishings and essentials for their new home.
  • Through lessons learned, Crossroads knows that simply placing women earning minimum wage into affordable housing is not the complete solutions.  In the absence of living-wage income -- the women and their families will forever struggle.  Again -- thanks to special funding -- Crossroads helps the women with tuition for specialized training and online courses, computers to enable them to take online courses, etc.
  • Ideally participation in the program is intended to be two to three years.  An Individual Service Plan (ISP), ongoing Case Management and as-needed Supportive Services help each woman move toward achieving her specific goals.
Crossroads' overall definition of success is that each woman sustain her housing, living-wage employment and overall wellbeing for one year.

  1. Help participants obtain and remain in permanent housing.
  2. Help participants increase skills and/or income, and
  3. Help participants achieve greater self-determination.
